Inspection Down....Everything Else to Go

We had two inspections. The first was done by Erik's Uncle, who happens to be the City Inspector for Crystal, MN and the second was Erik's Dad, who happens to know a lot about houses and mechanics. We found just a couple of extremely minor things, but for the most part, the house seems good to go! We're excited. Erik's mom came to the 2nd inspection and actually started crying because she was so excited for us. It was sweet. She hugged both of us AND our realtor! :)
We will still wait to post pictures until after closing, but we're excited and would love to show everyone our new place. The plan is that the closing will be Aug. 24th and that we can take possession on Aug. 26th. We can't wait! However, we are a bit nervous about getting a mortgage and all of the paperwork and steps it will take before closing. We hope everything goes well!

Pending Inspection!

Update: WE GOT THE HOUSE!!! Finally, after waiting all day, we got an email from our realtor with the 'counteroffer addendum' attached. They accepted our offer! We will be getting an inspection as soon as possible and then we will go from there. The plan is to close and move in the last week of August. We are so excited! We'll post photos when things are official. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers! This has been a long journey.

So hard to wait

So, we made an offer on another house this weekend (different than the short sale we have been waiting on for four months). We have been countering back and forth for the last three days. We're getting pretty close now...and today I sit by my cell phone, waiting to find out if we have a house, or if they rejected our offer! I'm so nervous. As each minute passes, that pit in my stomach gets more and more noticeable. We both are really excited about this house now and we've heard there is another offer. It's very nerve wracking. But, I guess all I can do is wait and hope that all goes well. We'll keep you posted.

Becoming Real...

The reality of starting school is setting in. Yesterday I received my schedule for my master's courses. Once September 8th hits, I will pretty much be booked every Tuesday night until May of 2011. That seems like forever from now! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. I'm very glad that Erik and I are both going to be in school at the same time and that we will graduate together though. Masters in Organizational Leadership here I come!!

Busy Fun

It's been a while so I thought I would post a little about what we've been up to. There has been a lot...but sorry, not a lot of photos (if any)! Since we moved in with Erik's parents, we have kept busy! We've been hanging out with some friends, house hunting, going to showers, celebrating Birthdays, marathon training and keeping busy with work and school. It seems almost everyday is filled to the point that we're cutting into my much desired 'sleep time.' It's sad, I can tell I am getting older and I need my sleep. I'm hoping to catch up this weekend :)

This week we have 3 Birthday parties to enjoy! We've been to two already and have one on Sat. Over the weekend, I enjoyed going to a Baby Shower for Kellie (& Shane) Oborn. We're so excited to welcome their little girl into the world in the next few weeks! Erik and his cousin, Tim went on a 9.2 mile run on Sat. Tim's wife, Laura, Baby Sophia and I biked along the same trail and handed them water as needed. They did great! We've had dinner and/or late night apps. with friends a few different nights. It's probably not good for my waist but it's great to catch up with friends!

All if this is happening while we settle into a new place, Erik continues his MBA, and we're both trying to make a decision/wait on a house. Currently, we're still waiting on our short sale offer (almost 4 months and counting) but we may have a couple other options that we are looking into. I feel like we are getting much closer; which is good because this has been a very slow and frustrating process. It was very fun the first two or even three months, but now it's just difficult and disappointing. My hope is that we will find the right house for us and we'll forget the process it took to get there! We'll keep you posted!

Happy 4th of July!

What a fabulous weekend! The weather was fantastic and we had a lot of fun! We went to Erik's parents' cabin with his family. We were there Thur afternoon-Sunday. On Friday we were able to have Carol and her two kids there for lunch and a boat ride. She stopped on her way to her sister's for the weekend (Bill went on the CO trip --like we did last year). I'm glad it worked out. Kayla enjoyed every minute of it. Caidron enjoyed most of it...but not the dog. He really enjoyed his turn to 'drive the boat.' Kayla looked so stinkin' cute in her life jacket! It was fun. Carol's sister lives just 40 minutes away from the cabin and we've always wanted to have them over when we're both in the area. I'm glad we were able to this weekend...next time Bill will have to come too.

Most of the rest of the weekend we didn't have the camera with us. So, pictures are sparse but we had fun. Erik's cousin and her husband came up and so did Erik's sister, Rachel and her husband, Billy. Amy was able to come up for the evening of the 4th, but had to work the rest of the time. The fireworks were Friday night. Unfortunately it rained pretty hard and once we gave up and decided to go back home, we heard the fireworks starting up. Erik, Rachel and their cousins jumped into the wet boat to see the end of the show. I stayed back since I don't love being wet and cold :)

We spend most of the day on Saturday on the boat. It was a beautiful day! We went out on the water a couple times, just hung out on the deck, and ate way too much food! That evening we enjoyed our new favorite smores!! I totally recommend them...instead of the regular Hershey's milk chocolate, put in a dark chocolate Reese's Peanut Butter Cup!! (if you're not a dark chocolate fan, use the regular peanut butter cups!) It is fabulous! That night was the Birchwood Street Dance --which is always a good time...it's always interesting anyway! I will admit, we were the ones who started the Electric Slide...

Sunday was another beautiful day with more sun! Erik jogged eight miles and I road my bike along side (I brought the water). Followed by haircuts on the dock and then another boat ride. We left after dinner
. The great weekend made it very hard to get out of bed this morning!

Good-Bye Apt. 104

So, as of Monday at 4:30pm, we are no longer apartment renters! It was a LONG weekend of moving and cleaning. There are also a few stories you'll have to ask us about sometime, but I will not type them out because they are too long and gross!

Thanks to all of you who came to help us move on Friday evening...the hottest day of the summer so far! I was surprised at how many loads it took, but I am pleased to know that everything we own fits into a 10x20 space with plenty of room to spare! I'm sure that will change once we own a house, but for now, it's good!

We stayed overnight in our apt. for the last time on Friday night. Since the bed was in storage, our sleeping arrangements were not great.
My parents stayed overnight as well. In the morning we all had breakfast at Perkins. Then my parents went to a wedding and we went to a different wedding reception/open house for Erik's friend, Dan and wife, Grace. Dan and Erik had a band in high school with a bunch of friends. They were able to get the band back together for a few songs at the reception. They had a ton of fun and sounded great! However, since we still had moving to do, we had to get back at it. We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening moving.

Erik and I spent all day on Sunday cleaning our apartment. We still had enough that I spent most of the day on Monday cleaning as well. I actually didn't mind the cleaning and suggested to Erik that once we get a house, we should really take one weekend a year and do a DEEP cleaning! It's amazing how much dust and grime builds up on everything. However, I fully understand that when we own a house, we will not have the motivation of trying to get our full deposit back to keep us cleaning for two days straight! So, we'll see if that ever happens.

Today my co-worker is moving into our old apartment. I hope everything goes well for him. I'm so glad this worked out for both of us. Now we just need to get a house...
(still no news)
